This work features a carved bird which has very minute detail in the feathers, milk thistle and a bottom rim of feathers plus other features. The pot is 3 1/2" High and 3" Wide. It is signed: "Grace Medicine Flower 78" plus her carved flower insignia. There are some light abasions on the bottom but they do not interfere with her signature. An outstanding work by a celebrated Pueblo Artist. Medicine Flower creates her pottery from local clay that she digs herself at Santa Clara Pueblo. She dries the clay in the sun and fires thework outside. She used a knife or nail to carve her intricate designs using the sgraffito style.
